Employment Opportunities: Positions

Dear Jobseeker:

We are thrilled that you decided to visit our Web site to review career opportunities with Mission Road Ministries. On behalf of Mission Road, I would like to provide you with some insight into who we are and what we do.

Mission Road was founded in 1947 by Mr. and Mrs. Clifford C. Bledsoe as a place to provide care for their son with disabilities and others like him. From that humble beginning, it has grown and progressed with the evolving needs of children and adults with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities. As one of the largest and oldest non-profit organizations in San Antonio, Mission Road is honored and proud to be supported by the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County.

Today, Mission Road Ministries is the umbrella organization for five separate entities that provide a variety of residential and non-residential services daily to over 500 children and adults with mental retardation. We have a 20-acre campus on the south side of San Antonio which provides residential care to children and adults, in addition to a day services program for adults. Throughout the San Antonio community, we have ten group homes for children and adults, three apartment complexes providing semi-independent apartment living for adults and The Unicorn Centers, Inc. which provides a variety of vocational programs for adults.

Our team of more than 250 employees concentrates on our guiding principle of “changing lives by focusing on potential rather than limitations” and daily pursues our mission of “helping children and adults with developmental disabilities achieve their individual potential for Independence, Productivity, Self-Reliance, and Full Participation in the community at large”.

We know that we can only achieve our mission through the efforts of committed caregivers, and I encourage you to further investigate becoming a member of our Team. Please let me know if I can provide you with any additional information about becoming a member of the Mission Road Ministries Team.

Thank you for including Mission Road Ministries in your job search!

Yours very truly,
toby

“I have worked at MRDC for 30 years.  During these 30 years, I have seen a lot of changes; each of these changes has been for the better-ment of programs and facilities for our consumers and staff.  I have stayed with the Mission Road Adult Day Services program because I enjoy seeing the small accomplishments that the consumers make.  It makes my day when I get a smile or a hug from those that are not able to do much.  I feel that I have been there for the consumers to give them guidance, help them accomplish new things and mainly show them that someone cares.  Mission Road has allowed me to grow as an individual through the training I have received.  They reward tenure, give annual raises and show appreciation to staff.  But most of all, they allow me to be a part of our consumer’s life.”  Laura Byrd, Adult Day Services Coordinator, Date of Hire: May 1976.
